One.com is going to upgrade the MySQL database, from version 4.1 to version 5.0 on the server for the domain dikkie.net.
The reasons for the upgrade are that MySQL5 offers new and improved functions and that MySQL 4 is considered deprecated by MySQL and will not be receiving any further updates.
The upgrade is planned to take place on 2007-10-31 at about 07.00 CEST. We estimate that the upgrade will take approx. 30 minutes.
The website will work as usual and only parts that rely upon the database will be affected during the upgrade.
We advice you to keep an eye out for any problems that arise after the upgrade.
Deze morgen hoorde ik op de radio dat de nominaties voor de Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bekend zijn. Ze zijn blijkbaar al een maand bekend, maar het was het eerste dat ik ervan hoorde. Onder andere bij de kandidaten zijn Madonna, Beastie Boys en Afrika Bambaataa. Die laatste naam deed een vaag belletje bij mij rinkelen. Na wat opzoekwerk bleek deze man één van de grondleggers van de hip hop te zijn en is hij verantwoordelijk voor de hit Planet Rock. Een ander pareltje is de schijf Peace, Unity, Love and Having Fun, getuige het clipje hieronder. Zo heerlijk jaren tachtig. Alsof de begingeneriek van The Fresh Prince of Bel Air tot leven is gekomen.
Maar dat was eigenlijk niet wat ik zocht In de late jaren negentig, is er nog wat anders uitgekomen waar Afrika Bambaataa bij betrokken was: Afrika Bambaataa & Westbam - Agharta, The city of Shamballa. Feestschijf van toen ik nog 18 en schattig was.

Vanaf vandaag kan je de nieuwe CD In Rainbows van Radiohead downloaden. De CD is enkel en alleen via de website van de groep te bekomen en je kan ervoor betalen wat je wil. Ik heb geopteerd voor de gemiddelde Media Markt prijs Het cd’tje zelf is niet slecht, maar zeker niet top te noemen. Het is aangenaam om naar te luisteren, maar klint niet zo spannend als zijn voorgangers. En ook jammer dat er geen hoesje bij de download komt. But hey, het is Radiohead-muziek en that just rocks!
Ik heb mij een Crumpler tasje aangeschaft! En niet zomaar een Crumpler tasje, nee hoor, de Nikon-Crumpler ‘That’ bag. Hoe? Jij had toch een Canon aangeschaft? Klopt, maar ik trek het mij niet aan :-p Trouwens dat ding is helemaal niet speciaal voor een Nikon ontworpen. Een beetje rondsurfen op de Crumpler site leert dat het eigenlijk om een Pretty Boy gaat, waar de streepjes wat anders staan. Ik heb het ding ook zitten nameten en het kan niet anders dan dat het een Pretty Boy XXL is. Die heeft een waarde van 70 euro bij Crumpler zelf. Mijn schatteke heeft mijn ‘That’ voor mij voor maar 49 euro bij Fnac aangeschaft. Haast u zou ik zeggen, want er hingen er nog maar twee in Antwerpen
Ever wondered how to change the indentation in the LaTeX itemize environment? Well, it can’t. When you use the itemize environment in LaTeX your items (\item) will automatically be indented about 2em. Sometimes however (like me yesterday), this indentation is not needed and you want the items in you list to be aligned as the text. However in that case you will have to use the list environment. This is a general environment that can be used for any kind of list and of which the itemize is a special case. To generate an itemize without identation use the following code:

Godver! Donderdag Wordpress 2.1.1 ge?nstalleerd, drie dagen niet achter de computer gezeten dan kreeg ik dit ineens doorgestuurd van een collega! Snel de upgrade naar 2.1.2 gedaan en de paswoorden van mijn blog, webhost en database vervangen. Het zou nu safe moeten zijn hoop ik en voor zover ik kan nagaan, werkt alles hier nog prima en heeft niemand iets vies met mijn blog uitgestoken. Iemand die mij kan vertellen hoe ik dat met zekerheid kan nagaan?
