Bubion & Capileira

Hey folks, I’m sorry for not posting anything the last two weeks, but I had a hectic time since my last post. Family reasons mainly, maybe I’ll post something about it on my personal blog, I don’t know yet.

So, I promosed you more pictures from Spain, right? Ok. This one is from the southern region of the Sierra Nevada, called Las Alpujarras. These are the villages of Bubion (right) and Capileira (left, the highest of the two). The picture was taken close to a third one of these villages, called Pampaneira, situated a bit lower in the valley.

As you can see these little white villages are very idyllic and seem to almost fall of the mountain’s flank. If you think this is not one of my most strongest images, then I completely agree . It was a very overcast day yielding pale colors. I did some effort in Photoshop’s LAB color mode to recover the image a bit. I don’t feel like I succeeded very well in it, though. It looks more like a painting than a photograph now. I uploaded the full reselution original as well, so feel free to comment or to give suggestions on the postprocessing. I still wanted to share the picture with you to show how beautiful nature can be in that area of Spain.

Evening glow

This is the last one from Sunday and my favorite one. Some fog was coming up in the background and I tried to capture it to the best I could with my wide-angle lense I hope you liked the atmosphere of the images of Sunday. Tomorrow we go back to Spain!

Uw kans tot een bijdrage aan de wetenschap

De KULeuven heeft jullie nodig en wel voor een bijdrage te doen aan de wetenschap. Collega Bart vroeg mij om het onderstaande bericht te verspreiden onder zo veel mogelijk mensen. Bij deze dus. Het betreft drie online vragenlijsten die ingevuld moeten worden gespreid over een jaar tijd. Hoe meer mensen hieraan deelnemen, hoe nauwkeuriger en veralgemeenbaarder onze resultaten kunnen zijn. Meedoen dus! En moest dat nog niet genoeg overtuiging zijn, dan worden er ook een aantal Fnac-bonnen verloot onder de deelnemers. Ze zijn er jullie alvast dankbaar voor.

Aan het Centrum voor Ontwikkelingspsychologie (KULeuven) doen wij onderzoek naar de ontwikkeling van adolescenten. Omdat de variabelen die wij onderzoeken ook belangrijk zijn voor (jong)volwassenen, zouden we graag onderzoek doen bij mensen tussen de 20 en 40 die werken of werk zoeken (en niet voltijds studeren). Het zou heel sympathiek zijn mocht je meewerken aan onze online bevraging die handelt over hoe je denkt over jezelf en je toekomst, en hoe je in het leven staat. Het zou zelfs nog sympathieker zijn als je niet alleen deelneemt aan ons onderzoek, maar als je dit bericht ook nog eens zou kunnen verspreiden onder mensen die je kent.

We willen benadrukken dat het hier gaat om een zogeheten longitudinaal onderzoek. Aangezien zijn geïnteresseerd zijn in de evolutie die mensen doormaken over de tijd, is het belangrijk dat u meerdere keren deelneemt aan ons onderzoek. Meerbepaald zullen we u over een half jaar vragen om deel te nemen aan het tweede luik van dit onderzoek en over een jaar om deel te nemen aan het derde en laatste luik. Deeelname aan het eerste luik zal een half uurtje van uw tijd in beslag nemen. Het tweede en derde luik zal korter zijn. Wij garanderen een strikt vertrouwelijke behandeling van uw gegevens.

AC/DC, here i come

Joepie! In tegenstelling tot velen heb ik deze morgen vlotjes twee tickets voor AC/DC vastgekregen. En dat er niets meer gaat overschieten van dat Sportpaleis. Ik verzeker het u!!

Sun setting in Reet

A nice sunset last sunday in the fields of Reet.

After a while some fog came up as well, which gave the place a nice atmosphere.

An evening in Reet

Something completely different today. No Spain, but the magnificent country of Belgium. Last weekend we had extremely nice weather, with very nice evenings. This shot is from sunday, a lovely evening. I took the car and drove around a bit, looking for some nice fields, which I found evenutally in Reet. It’s an hdr from four shots: 1.3s, 6s, 13s and 25s at f11, ISO 100.

Hams

From the same tapabar as the previous post. These hams are really delicious! Some of them are serrano hams. The tapabar was located in the city Lanjaron in the Alpujarras. The Alpujarras are the southern parts of the Sierra Nevada with nice valleys and small white villages on steep flanks.
