Canon’s China website has published specifications for the 50D in its public webspace. Although the info is not on the front page of the site yet, it is accessible to anyone. Here is the link (update: it’s down, but this one is still live for the moment 11:51p.m. ET).

I’ve set forth the relevant translated specs and info below. Please note that the original specs listed here listed in-body IS as a feature. The translation was wrong and the feature has been removed from the spec list below. The specs referenced the advantages and compatibility with lens-based IS instead.

At the falcony

August 20th, 2008 | animals | 11 Comments »

Ok, it’s been a week since I posted something new. We’re staying in Germany for the next pics. At the last day of our little trip we went to a castle in Cochem near the Mosel River where they had a small falcony. They had a little bird show, which was pretty cool.

Here is the, euhm, boss of the birds, holding an owl.

At the falcony

The owl itself sitting on a fence.

At the falcony

And here he is doing his daily excercise: flying back and forth for some nice delicious peaces of meat.

At the falcony

They also had a hawk (who took a couple of flights over the crowd)…

At the falcony

… and an eagle (not flying).

At the falcony

There was a falcon as well, but he flew too fast to make a decent picture of him.

A weblog award!

W00t, I received a weblog award from Karel, a friend and colleague photographer. :) That means that my blog is one of his favourites for which I’m very thankful of course. Now it’s time to nominate my favorite blogs. I got about a hundred photoblogs and photography blogs in my feedreader so let’s make a selection of seven.

  1. Bert Stephani. I don’t think this guy needs an introduction any more. He’s an awesome professional photographer with an amazing strobist talent. His videos even get featured on the Strobist blog. Keep up the good work, Bert! I love reading your blog.
  2. Talking about strobist skills, Tom Leuntjes is a very talented guy as well. I’m following his blog only since recently and his work is really nice. The very original lightning in his portraits makes them outstanding.
  3. The next one is a professional engagement and wedding photographer: Pieter Van Impe. His images are uncomplicated and really stand out. The persons in his portraits are always laughing and happy. He’s one of the very who few is able to photograph the tenderness and love between a couple. I think he’s the second best one.
  4. Well, who’s the most awesome wedding photographer on the web then? In my opinion, that’s Jasmine Star. Outstanding images, warm portraits, laughing couples, nice details of the wedding. She has it all. I’d marry in California, just to have her as my wedding photographer. Check her!
  5. The next three photographers in my top list are amateurs. Although Thomas Bouve might end up being a professional soon, because he is following a three-year photography education at the moment of which he has completed one year now. He shows a lot of his course assignements and if he doesn’t get his photography degree over two years, then I don’t know what talent looks like any more. ;-)
  6. Jan Tielens. I’m following this blog for quite a while now and Jan’s pics are really great. He doesn’t post that often, but when he does it’s always a very nice image. He’s been to Prague recently, so there are some nice cityscapes at his blog for the moment.
  7. And last but certainly not least, we have Tim Freh. He’s my al time favorite photographer. He’s still very young, but has a lot of talent. His loves night photography and has recently been in Berlin. Combine those two and you have a lot of amazing images. If you browse through his archives you’ll also find very nice industry photography and amazing portraits. He has a his very own style of postprocessing which I like so much. Take this portrait for instance. I think that’s great. I’d like end this post with a tribute to Tim and that particular portrait. A photo of my girlfriend drinking from a glass.

20 minuten??
